What is Supported Accommodation?
Supported accommodation refers to housing and support for looked after children and care leavers aged 16 to 17, which enables them to live semi-independently. It provides a stepping stone between the structured environment of a children's home or foster care and complete independence.
Young people are provided with a higher level of independence and autonomy while still receiving support. The goal is to gradually prepare young people for the responsibilities and challenges they will face as they transition into adulthood. Lundi Education and Care Services take young people through an Independent living program that focuses on 14 key areas:
Money Management
Food Management
Home Management
Personal Care
Health
Safety Awareness
Community Knowledge
Communication Skills
Housing
Transport
Time Management
Employment
Job Seeking
Job Maintainance
We take great pride in maintaining an exceptional level of decoration. Our primary goal is to create a sense of belonging for the children and young people under our care, ensuring they feel truly at home. This involves allowing them to personalise their bedrooms according to their preferences and ensuring communal spaces like kitchens and living rooms exude warmth and a welcoming atmosphere.
